Cameroon’s representation at the African Union summit

President Paul Biya has delegated Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute to represent Cameroon at the 21st extraordinary session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government of the African Union. This crucial gathering, held in Luanda, Angola, focuses on strengthening mechanisms for conflict prevention and resolution across the African continent.

Despite his recent return to Yaoundé, President Biya opted not to travel to Luanda for the August 30 summit. Instead, Prime Minister Dion Ngute carries the mandate to articulate Cameroon’s position on these vital matters. The discussions are expected to address various regional challenges, including the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency in the Far North region and the separatist crisis affecting Cameroon’s Anglophone regions.

Diplomatic engagements beyond Africa

Following his participation in the Angolan summit, Prime Minister Dion Ngute is scheduled to proceed to Serbia. There, he will once again represent President Biya at a high-level meeting commemorating the 65th anniversary of the first Conference of Heads of State and Government of Non-Aligned Countries. This event is set to take place in Belgrade from August 31 to September 1, 2026, highlighting Cameroon’s continued engagement in international diplomacy.
