Paris Saint-Germain closing in on first summer signing for €25 million

Driven by a passion for sports, I grew up listening to the roar of Formula 1 engines and marveling at Ronaldinho’s exploits. Today, with a Master’s in sports journalism, I never miss a Grand Prix or a PSG match, my two enduring passions and specialties.

Fresh off their Champions League triumph, Paris Saint-Germain is already making significant moves behind the scenes in the transfer market. The club’s initial major acquisition appears to be imminent, with a deal for Aleksey Batrakov from Russia reportedly on track for approximately €25 million.

Following their victorious Champions League final against Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain is swiftly turning its attention to the upcoming season. A primary objective in the current transfer window is to inject fresh talent into the squad without disrupting its core. Aligning with this strategy, the Parisian club continues its focus on acquiring promising young players. It is within this framework that Aleksey Batrakov seems poised to join PSG. Dmitry Cheltsov, an agent with extensive knowledge of the Russian market, suggests there is now a 95% probability that the offensive midfielder from Lokomotiv Moscow will relocate to the French capital.

Batrakov’s move to PSG nearing completion?

Batrakov is almost certain (95% chance) to join Paris. Discussions between the management of PSG and Lokomotiv have already involved around ten telephone calls. This week — which concludes today — Campos will travel to Moscow to try and finalize the transfer. Only an unforeseen major event could derail this move. The transfer fee is set at €25 million, with a salary around €5 or €6 million. The transfer is anticipated to be completed within the next two weeks,” he revealed during an appearance on the European Review program on the Comment.Show channel.

“Batrakov is almost certain to join PSG”

Andrey Nagibin, a youth team coach at Lokomotiv Moscow who previously coached Aleksey Batrakov, has confirmed ongoing negotiations with PSG. “To my understanding, discussions with PSG are indeed happening. He undoubtedly possesses the qualities required to perform at the highest level. However, many aspects will need to change. The standard of the French league surpasses that of Russia… I believe numerous factors must align for Batrakov to secure a starting position. Yet, we have the example of Safonov: he arrived as a backup goalkeeper, seized his opportunity, and became a starter. I recently met Alexey, and we spoke about it; he is keen to test himself at PSG. I wished him good fortune and hope everything goes smoothly,” he stated in an interview.
