Ousmane Sonko, the president of Pastef, has expressed profound sorrow following the death of Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké. He lauded the memory of a spiritual figure whom he affirmed had a deep and lasting impact on his personal journey.
In a heartfelt tribute marked by both sadness and immense gratitude, Sonko recounted the passing of a revered religious leader who consistently offered him solace and unwavering support during his most challenging moments.
“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. A father, a friend, a confidant, and a guide has departed,” he solemnly declared.
The influential political leader specifically highlighted the invaluable guidance he received from the late marabout, encompassing his sagacious counsel, his personal prayers, and the collective supplications of thousands of disciples across various Daara.
“He stood by me during the darkest times, enveloping me with his compassion, his wisdom, his prayers, and those of the countless disciples in the numerous Daara,” Ousmane Sonko testified.
Paying homage to the exceptional spiritual and human qualities of the departed, the Pastef president characterized Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké as a “champion of diligence and spirituality” and an esteemed “master of Khelcom.”
Concluding his message, Ousmane Sonko offered fervent prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul.
“Allah, O Allah, envelop him in Your infinite mercy and open for him the pathways to Your eternal paradise,” he prayed with deep reverence.
