During a recent interview with France 24, Ousmane Sonko, leader of the Pastef party and President of the National Assembly, clarified his stance on the 2029 presidential election.

When questioned about his potential candidacy, he emphasized the premature nature of such discussions. «There are many speculations about my candidacy in 2029, but I prefer to wait for the right moment,» Sonko stated. «My party will ultimately decide on its candidate, and we are not there yet.»

Regarding the potential candidacy of President Diomaye Faye, Sonko remained neutral. «Each of us has our own path to follow. I have mine to pursue and will not comment on the President’s decisions,» he explained. «His journey is his own, just as mine is mine.»
