Niger’s government launches preparations for 2026 investment forum

The government of Niger has reached a pivotal milestone in organizing the highly anticipated “Invest in Niger” Forum, scheduled for November 24 to 26, 2026. Authorities have formally established the committee tasked with steering its preparations, entrusting it with the critical mission of transforming the event into a compelling showcase of the nation’s economic promise for both domestic and international investors.

The official countdown has now commenced. In Niamey, the authorities inaugurated the specialized committee responsible for orchestrating the international “Invest in Niger” Forum. Addressing the newly formed committee members, Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, immediately highlighted the profound significance of this gathering for Niger’s economic trajectory.

The forum is primarily envisioned as a dynamic platform to illuminate diverse investment opportunities across several pivotal sectors crucial for national development. According to the Minister, Niger possesses substantial economic potential, which the authorities are now committed to enhancing by establishing favorable conditions to reassure, attract, and support both domestic and international capital.

“Niger holds immense economic potential; it is incumbent upon the authorities to foster conditions that reassure, entice, and facilitate investments.” – Mr. Abdoulaye Seydou, Minister of Commerce and Industry

A call for rigor and synergy

The Minister subsequently urged the committee members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, strictly adhere to deadlines, and ensure seamless synergy among all involved stakeholders. This directive aims to guarantee the resounding success of an event whose aspirations extend beyond national borders. The forum is indeed set to welcome several distinguished guest countries, including Turkey, China, and Russia, alongside special invitees from across the African continent and beyond.

Broad diplomatic engagement

In addition to the honored guest nations, delegations from Burkina Faso and Mali, key partners of Niger within the Confédération des États du Sahel (AES), will also participate. Other attending countries include Togo, Ghana, Chad, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, India, and Saudi Arabia, underscoring the forum’s wide-ranging international appeal.

Structured leadership through four sub-commissions

The ad hoc committee is composed of experts drawn from various sectoral ministries and numerous professional bodies. It is strategically organized into four distinct sub-commissions, each entrusted with a specialized mandate:

  • Scientific affairs

  • Logistics, exhibition, protocol, and security

  • Communication and institutional coordination

The extensive mission assigned to this committee encompasses defining the event’s organizational strategy, developing the detailed work program, meticulously selecting bankable projects to be presented to investors, and ensuring the forum’s robust promotion and visibility on both national and international stages.

Repositioning Niger as a premier investment destination

Beyond the logistical arrangements, this initiative is deeply rooted in a broader political will. The authorities of the Refondation aim to revitalize the national economy and strategically position Niger as a favored destination for private, regional, and international capital. The “Invest in Niger” Forum thus emerges as a crucial diplomatic-economic instrument for achieving this ambition, particularly as many West African nations seek to diversify their economic partnerships.

The newly installed committee now faces the significant task of transforming this ambitious blueprint into an event that fully meets the government’s high expectations, all within a timeframe of just over four months.
