On Saturday, August 1, 2026, a joint security commission executed a sweeping operation in N’Djamena, targeting numerous areas identified as high-crime zones. This large-scale intervention, involving various law enforcement agencies and security units such as the Garde nationale et nomade du Tchad (GNNT), the National Gendarmerie, the National Police, the Judicial Police, and specialized services, resulted in the apprehension of 252 individuals and the confiscation of an array of illicit items and substances.

Targeted zones across the capital

The operation strategically focused on specific sectors, including Mandjakoli in the 5th arrondissement, Roma, Bildo, and Katanga in the 2nd arrondissement, along with Colombie and other key neighborhoods throughout the Chadian capital.

Seizures and arrests detailed by authorities

According to Hachim Haroum Deby, the Director of Public Security, the operation successfully apprehended both vendors and consumers of various narcotic substances. Among the confiscated items were drugs commonly known as « Colorado » and « Bongo », alongside substantial quantities of counterfeit alcohol.

High-level oversight of the mission

The mission was conducted under the direct supervision of the Director General of the National Gendarmerie, who also serves as the Deputy President of the Joint Control and Verification Commission. Additionally, the 1st Deputy Police General Controller and the 2nd Deputy Commander of the Garde nationale et nomade du Tchad (GNNT) played active roles in overseeing the operation.

Outcome and official presentation

Following the intervention, a total of 252 individuals were presented to the press. Security forces also displayed numerous seized items, including various weapons, computers, mobile phones, and 25 motorcycles.

The comprehensive results of the operation were subsequently presented to the Minister of Public Security and Immigration, General Ali Ahmat Aghabache.
