An adultery case in N’Djamena has reached the courts, involving a soldier, his wife, and her alleged lover. The plaintiff, currently serving in the volatile Lac region, pressed charges after discovering his spouse had left their shared home and formed a new relationship. The trial has been adjourned pending a verdict.
Military man uncovers family betrayal during deployment
The marital breakdown stems from the soldier’s extended absence due to security operations in the Lac area. While he was deployed, his wife and their three children remained in the capital. Upon his return, he found the house abandoned. Tracking her phone led him to N’Djamena’s Bakara district, where he located the couple together.
Confronted with the situation, the soldier immediately contacted authorities. Police intervened, detaining both the wife and her companion before transferring them to Klessoum prison on remand.
Legal battle intensifies as both sides present their case
During questioning, the wife insisted she would not resume life with her husband, asserting her choice to remain with her new partner.
The prosecution argued for strict enforcement of the law against the accused, seeking a 100,000 CFA franc fine for each. The soldier also demanded the return of his dowry, valued at two million CFA francs.
The defense, however, highlighted the wife’s emotional hardship during her husband’s prolonged deployment, framing her actions as a response to neglect.
The court has reserved judgment, with a decision expected in the coming days.
