Morocco uae strong alliance drives mutual growth and development

Morocco and the United Arab Emirates have cultivated a world-class model of strategic cooperation, rooted in deep historical ties forged by the late King Hassan II and Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Their partnership stands out for its shared vision, reciprocal political backing, diversified economic collaboration, and unified stance on pressing global issues. This synergy is visibly reflected in the frequent high-level exchanges between the two nations, each visit reinforcing the strength of their bond.

On June 2, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed King Mohammed VI for a private visit at his residence in Rabat. The meeting provided a rare opportunity for the two leaders to exchange perspectives on pressing regional and international challenges, particularly those affecting the Gulf and Middle East. According to an official statement from the Royal Cabinet, this gathering underscored the enduring fraternal ties between the heads of state and their families, ensuring a foundation of trust and mutual respect.

The partnership between Morocco and the UAE is built on an innovative and robust framework established in December 2023. Designed to elevate their economic, trade, industrial, and investment relations to match their political and social ties, the agreement emphasizes transformative collaboration. By prioritizing mutual benefit and pragmatic cooperation, both nations are working to unlock sustainable development opportunities that serve their collective interests.

The alliance fosters creative operational models tailored to their shared goals. Key initiatives include funding high-value projects through blended finance, public-private partnerships, and investment capital. Strategic sectors such as food security are prioritized, with plans to collaborate with Morocco’s Office chérifien des phosphates (OCP) on fertilizer production. Additional focus areas include tourism and real estate development along the Mediterranean coast, in regions like Dakhla and Tarfaya, and the reconstruction of areas devastated by the Al Haouz earthquake.

Politically, Morocco has consistently demonstrated its commitment to the security and stability of its Gulf allies. During recent regional tensions involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Morocco took a firm stand against Iranian aggression toward Gulf states. King Mohammed VI held a phone call with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to reaffirm Morocco’s unwavering solidarity with the UAE, highlighting the depth of their strategic alignment.
