Moroccan military delegation wraps up successful mauritanian visit with high-level talks

Led by Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the Southern Zone, a high-ranking Moroccan military delegation concluded a working visit to Mauritania on Tuesday.

The delegation, received by President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghezouani in Nouakchott, also included Hamid Chabar, Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, as confirmed by an official communiqué from the Royal Armed Forces General Staff.

During the same day, Lieutenant General Berrid met with Minister of National Defense Hanana Ould Sidi at the ministry’s headquarters. Following productive discussions, the Mauritanian Defense Minister presented the Moroccan official with the National Order of Merit in the rank of Commander, awarded by the President of the Republic on behalf of the Mauritanian state.

Later, Lieutenant General Berrid and Mauritania’s Chief of Defense Staff co-chaired the sixth session of the Mauritania-Morocco Joint Military Commission.

The military leaders reviewed the strong and positive outcomes of bilateral defense cooperation, highlighting its strategic importance as a model for regional partnership. They emphasized the tangible progress achieved through this collaboration, which continues to strengthen ties between the two nations.
