Mikhailo mudryk doping ban lifted by football authorities

Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk cleared to play after doping ban lifted

Chelsea's Ukrainian midfielder #10 Mykhailo Mudryk runs with the ball during the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge in London on October 6, 2024.

The Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk has had his four-year doping ban overturned with immediate effect after an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

A trace amount of meldonium, a prohibited substance, was detected in Mudryk’s sample in 2024. While his suspension stood at the time, the World Anti-Doping Agency’s updated regulations now mean such findings would no longer trigger disciplinary proceedings.

Regulatory changes have since redefined the threshold for meldonium violations, rendering Mudryk’s case non-actionable under current rules. The Football Association confirmed that if the same circumstances arose today, the result would not have been reported and no anti-doping breach would have been recorded.
