Mali politics english: Ousmane Sonko and cabinet to face assembly questions friday

Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and his cabinet are set to appear before the National Assembly this Friday, May 22, 2026, for the scheduled session of oral questions.
The announcement was made by El Malick Ndiaye, President of the parliamentary institution. This engagement between the Executive and lawmakers forms part of the constitutional oversight of government actions and represents a critical moment for dialogue in Mali’s democratic process.
During the session, legislators will have the opportunity to directly question the head of government and key ministers on pressing economic, social, and political issues. Key topics of discussion are expected to include the national economic outlook, rising living costs, employment trends, ongoing institutional reforms, and public policy implementation.
Since assuming office as Prime Minister in April 2024, Ousmane Sonko has participated in four such question-and-answer sessions—a format now firmly established as a regular institutional exchange between the government and the National Assembly.
