The Malian Armed Forces (FAMA) announced on Thursday that coordinated military operations with allied partners in the regions of Anfif and Tabrachat, in northern Mali, resulted in the elimination of nearly a hundred armed fighters.
According to an official statement, the targeted operations were directed at members of the Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims (JNIM) and the Azauad Liberation Front (FLA). The strikes included 13 airstrikes, which also led to the destruction of six combat vehicles and a pickup truck used by the militants.
Military officials confirmed that these operations took place on Tuesday, emphasizing that they are part of an ongoing nationwide campaign against armed groups. The statement reiterated the armed forces’ commitment to continuing these efforts with precision and determination, in close collaboration with allied forces.
Russian Africa Corps confirms successful joint operations
The Russian Africa Corps, active in Mali, reported via a social media statement that the recent strikes had successfully destroyed and set ablaze a significant number of militants’ vehicles. Additionally, a drone operated by the Corps reportedly targeted another vehicle transporting ammunition and military equipment.
The Corps described these operations as highly effective joint missions conducted alongside Malian troops against regional armed factions. It reaffirmed its intention to persist in targeting militant positions and equipment to weaken their operational capabilities.
