Côte d’Ivoire: Laurent Gbagbo reshapes PPA-CI’s leadership structure
In a strategic move to modernize its governance, the PPA-CI (Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire) announced a major leadership restructuring under the guidance of its former President, Laurent Gbagbo. The reorganization, unveiled through an official statement, introduces a shared leadership model with five new key figures assuming distinct yet complementary roles within the party’s highest echelons.
Five new leaders to drive the PPA-CI forward
The leadership team now includes four vice-presidents and one Chair of the Strategic and Political Council (CSP), each assigned specific responsibilities tailored to strengthen the party’s operational efficiency and ideological coherence.
- Assoa Adou, First Vice-President in charge of party doctrine, will oversee compliance with the party’s statutes, internal regulations, and alignment of all structures with its founding principles.
- Oulaye Hubert, Second Vice-President responsible for party affairs, will preside over Central Committee sessions, ensuring adherence to established procedures and strategic direction.
- Ackan Emmanuel, Third Vice-President tasked with party mobilization, is charged with revitalizing political activities and enhancing the party’s outreach, while maintaining constructive relations with national institutions.
- Justin Koné Katinan, Fourth Vice-President for general policy, will steer the party’s strategic agenda, coordinate policy implementation, and oversee the development of its government program.
- Sébastien Dano Djedje, newly appointed Chair of the CSP, assumes overall supervisory authority, leading the political training and ensuring the cohesion of the party’s executive actions.
A collective vision for stronger governance
Speaking on the restructuring, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized the importance of collaborative leadership. “The strength of our party lies not in a single individual, but in the unified efforts of its leadership and members working toward a shared vision,” he stated. He further noted that this new structure was designed to promote complementarity, efficiency, and collective responsibility in advancing the party’s mission.
From vision to action: a reform initiated in May
The decision to reorganize the party’s leadership was first announced during the PPA-CI Renaissance Day celebration held in Songon M’Bratté on May 16. The restructuring reflects a broader commitment to revitalize the party’s operational framework, enhance its responsiveness, and reinforce its capacity to engage effectively in the political landscape.
