The former Ivorian President and current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), Laurent Gbagbo, has announced a strategic delegation of some of his presidential powers to five key party figures.
This decision was conveyed in an official statement released by the PPA-CI, signaling a shift toward a more collective leadership model within the party.
New delegation of responsibilities among PPA-CI leaders
Under the new structure, Assoa Adou has been appointed as the First Vice-President, tasked with overseeing party statutes and internal regulations. Hubert Oulaye takes on the role of Second Vice-President, responsible for presiding over Central Committee meetings.
Additionally, Dano Djédjé Sébastien has been named Chairman of the Strategic and Political Council, with authority over general party oversight and supervision.
Vision behind the leadership reshuffle
Speaking on the restructuring, Laurent Gbagbo emphasized that this move reflects the party’s commitment to fostering a collaborative approach. “This decision to distribute certain responsibilities among these leaders underscores our commitment to collective leadership, where complementarity and unity drive our mission,” he stated.
He further highlighted that the strength of the PPA-CI lies not in a single individual but in the synergy of its leadership and members working toward a shared vision.
Gbagbo added, “Together, we can overcome challenges. Through unity, discipline, and coordinated action, the PPA-CI will not only overcome adversity but also serve the Ivorian people more effectively.”
