Khalifa Sall transforms Taxawu Sénégal into a political party and slams the government

At the Grand Théâtre in Dakar, Khalifa Sall presided over the inaugural congress of Taxawu Sénégal this Sunday, marking a pivotal moment as the movement officially evolved from a political platform into a structured political party. The event was defined by an intense mobilization of supporters who filled the venue with party colors, energetic chants, and bold placards.

Broad political support and new alliances

The congress drew a significant crowd of influential political figures, including Bamba Fall, the mayor of Médina, Alioune Ndoye, the mayor of Dakar-Plateau, and Aïssata Tall Sall. The gathering also saw the participation of Oumar Sarr, the coordinator for the Front pour la République (FDR), along with Me El Hadji Diouf and Zahara Kane Thiame, among other leaders.

According to the event organizers, the transition was strengthened by the formal inclusion of six additional political parties and several movements that signed the constitutive act to join Taxawu Sénégal during the ceremony.

Khalifa Sall delivers a scathing critique of the administration

In his concluding remarks, Khalifa Sall hailed the congress as a “founding act” for the new party structure. He offered a grim assessment of the nation’s current trajectory, stating that Sénégal is effectively in the “20th basement,” a metaphor highlighting the severity of the country’s socio-economic challenges.

The leader of Taxawu Sénégal also launched a direct political attack against the ruling leadership. He accused them of engaging in “Baara Yegoo,” asserting that the opposition has fully seen through their political maneuvers and governance tactics.

A plea for opposition unity and structural integrity

Addressing the broader political landscape, Khalifa Sall called upon opposition forces to foster a climate of trust and collaboration. He emphasized the importance of building a unified front to tackle the nation’s pressing issues. Reflecting on the history of Taxawu Sénégal, he acknowledged the path of hardships and triumphs that led to this moment, while praising the unwavering commitment of the activists who have remained loyal to the cause.
