The Rassemblement pour la Patrie et la Modernité (RPM), an active member of Gabon’s presidential majority, has expressed strong satisfaction with the dynamic leadership of President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema. In a public statement signed by party spokesperson Etienne Francky Meba Ondo, the political group highlighted the intense efforts deployed across the nation throughout the month of August.
The party particularly welcomed the latest strategic decisions aimed at elevating the national healthcare system, alongside the President’s continuous field presence and his clear commitment to developing Gabon’s interior provinces.
Major financial commitments for the healthcare sector
Central to this praise is the substantial financial package of 55 billion CFA francs announced on August 30 in Makokou. This funding includes 44 billion CFA francs dedicated to upgrading medical equipment nationwide, 6 billion CFA francs to reopen catering services inside hospital facilities, and an additional 5 billion CFA francs to bolster the National Health Insurance and Social Guarantee Fund (CNAMGS). The RPM views these measures as direct answers to the fundamental needs of the population and urges a swift and effective execution of these promises.
Decentralising development and infrastructure delivery
The statement also highlights several newly commissioned administrative, commercial, military, and medical facilities in Grand Libreville, alongside 17 key development projects launched in the Ogooué-Ivindo province during the Liberation Day celebrations in Makokou. Furthermore, the RPM pointed to the Mayiga housing project, which has already delivered 50 housing units with 25 more currently under construction, aiming for a total of 500 serviced plots to ensure that development extends far beyond the capital city.
Moving from promises to concrete evidence
Reflecting on the celebrations marking Gabon’s 66th independence anniversary and the third anniversary of the Liberation coup, the RPM fully endorsed the Head of State’s philosophy that the era of mere promises must now transition into an era of concrete evidence. The party emphasizes that the true measure of governmental success lies in the tangible improvements brought to the daily lives of Gabonese citizens.
Additionally, the party welcomed the official visit of Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo to Libreville, which culminated in the signing of three bilateral cooperation agreements.
Encouraging continuous progress and youth employment
The RPM encourages the administration to maintain this momentum, focusing heavily on executing planned projects, ensuring the long-term maintenance of completed infrastructure, and boosting job creation for young people. While reaffirming its loyal and responsible support for national unity and modernization initiatives, the party maintains its distinct identity.
Led by Alexandre Barro Chambrier, who currently serves as the Vice President of the Republic, the RPM joined the coalition backing Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema for the April 12, 2025 presidential race, while preserving its political independence. The party currently holds three seats in the National Assembly.
