Gabon President’s French Visit Marks New Era in Relations

Paris, France – The visit of Gabon President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema to France has marked a new era in the country’s relations with Paris. The two-day trip saw Oligui Nguema meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and other high-ranking officials.

Oligui Nguema was received with honors at the Palais du Luxembourg, the seat of the French Senate, where he met with Senate President Gérard Larcher. The meeting focused on strengthening economic ties between Gabon and France.

The Gabonese president also visited the iconic Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, which was rebuilt after a devastating fire in 2019. Oligui Nguema signed several contracts with French companies to develop infrastructure projects in Gabon.

During his visit, Oligui Nguema and Macron discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, including the potential cession of a French military base to Gabon. The meeting was seen as a significant step towards improving relations between the two nations.
