Gabon President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema is on a three-day official visit to France, his second since taking office.
The aim of the trip is to strengthen partnership between Libreville and Paris in several strategic sectors such as investments, infrastructure, energy transition, industrialisation, culture and trade.
Alongside a delegation comprising business leaders, politicians and journalists, President Oligui Nguema will meet with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron.
Local manganese transformation is a key topic, with Gabon being one of the world’s largest producers. Libreville plans to stop exporting raw minerals by 2029 in order to develop an industrial nationhood and increase added value.
Another significant dossier is defence cooperation. The two presidents are expected to discuss the renewal of their military partnership as well as the future of the De Gaulle camp, France’s base in Libreville.
