Gabon and Cuba Strengthen Media and Arts Ties

Minister of Communications and Media Germain Biahodjow met with Cuban Ambassador Alex González Garcia in Libreville on July 13, marking the beginning of a new partnership in strategic communication sectors.

According to the Gabon News Agency (AGP), this first official meeting laid the groundwork for renewed cooperation in areas such as audiovisual media and cinema.

The two officials discussed the potential for media to support diplomatic relations, as well as explored other areas of convergence in public life, such as education and agriculture.

Cuba to Support Gabonese Cinema

The technical and pedagogical aspects of the partnership were highlighted as key components. Cuba’s International Film School was mentioned as a renowned institution that has trained numerous African students.

Cuba is willing to support the development of Gabonese media professionals, including journalists and filmmakers.

Academic Exchanges on the Horizon

Discussions are underway to establish concrete exchanges between the two countries. Bourses for Gabonese students are being considered, as well as the possibility of Cuban experts teaching in Gabon.

This initial meeting laid the groundwork for a long-term partnership that aims to enhance the media and arts landscape of both nations.
