French companies maintain strong presence in Senegal’s growing markets

Across Senegal, from the vibrant corniche of Dakar to the historic Gorée Island, and stretching from the airport’s modern highway to numerous remote bush villages, a vast network of tens of thousands of solar-powered streetlights now brightens the landscape. This significant infrastructure project is largely spearheaded by two prominent French enterprises: Ragni, a family-owned business hailing from the Alpes-Maritimes region, and Fonroche, a dynamic SME based in Agen. These firms are just two examples among the 340 French companies actively operating within the nation.

While major French conglomerates like Orange, TotalEnergies, Auchan, and Eiffage have long-standing, well-established roots across West Africa, a growing number of smaller and medium-sized French businesses are increasingly identifying substantial growth opportunities within the Senegalese market. They are leveraging their expertise and innovative solutions to contribute to the country’s development while expanding their own global footprint.
