FC Nantes condemns pitch invasion by supporters following Toulouse match: club reaffirms core values
In a stern statement issued the day after the abandoned Ligue 1 clash against Toulouse, FC Nantes has strongly denounced the pitch invasion orchestrated by a section of its supporters, labeling the incidents as unacceptable breaches of club principles.
FC Nantes has left no room for ambiguity in its response to the chaotic scenes that unfolded at the Stade de la Beaujoire. With the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP) already reviewing the abandoned match, the club used its official platform to deliver a firm condemnation of the actions that led to the game’s premature termination.
«While we fully acknowledge the deep frustration and heartbreak stemming from a season marred by underperformance and the inevitable consequence of relegation, the club’s ethos, legacy, and identity cannot be compromised by such reckless behavior,» FC Nantes declared in its communiqué. The club added that «anger and disappointment are no justification for masked individuals storming the pitch, creating an atmosphere of intimidation and distress. A football stadium must remain a space for celebration, unity, and safety for every fan.»

The statement also extended gratitude to the «overwhelming majority of supporters who maintained their composure despite the emotional turmoil, as well as the security personnel and authorities who worked diligently to manage the situation. FC Nantes emphasized its «full cooperation with the LFP, authorities, and state services to ensure a thorough investigation and accountability for those responsible».
Concluding its message, the club urged all stakeholders to uphold «unity, calm, and respect as it prepares for the challenges ahead, stressing the importance of moving forward with dignity and collective responsibility.
