FBI praises Morocco’s security role ahead of 2026 world cup

The Deputy Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Christopher Raia, made an official visit on Wednesday to the International Police Cooperation Centre (IPCC), a high-level forum uniting law enforcement and security officials from nations competing in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The meeting underscored the robust security framework being assembled to safeguard every match of the tournament. During his stay, Raia held a dedicated session with the Moroccan delegation, led by the Directorate General for National Security (DGSN) and the Directorate General for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The FBI leader conveyed strong appreciation for Morocco’s proactive involvement in the event’s security planning and its sustained contributions across all preparatory phases. He went on to affirm that the FBI views the Kingdom of Morocco as a trusted ally, renowned globally for its operational expertise and unwavering reliability in matters of international security.

In his address to foreign security delegates at the IPCC, Raia emphasized the critical role of international collaboration and cross-border intelligence sharing in ensuring the seamless execution of the tournament’s security plan. He described the upcoming event as a logistical and operational challenge of unprecedented scale, requiring tight coordination among participating nations.

The FBI Deputy Director also highlighted a marked increase in intercepted threats on American soil, crediting this progress to the high quality of shared intelligence and the steadfast support of partner countries.
