At least eight fatalities and one injury were recorded after a Boko Haram assault in Cameroon’s Far North region late friday night.
The violent raid struck the village of Kangaleri, located in the Mayo-Sava department, leaving the community in shock. Six individuals died immediately, while three others sustained severe injuries and were rushed to medical facilities. Tragically, two more victims succumbed to their wounds over the next 24 hours, bringing the provisional death toll to eight. One injured survivor remains hospitalized, local sources confirmed.
Assailants, known for their preference for nighttime strikes, launched the attack under the cover of darkness before retreating. Authorities continue to investigate the precise circumstances and identities of those targeted.

In a separate but concurrent incident, jihadist militants reportedly raided Tourou, a town in the Mokolo district near the Nigerian border. Witnesses described looting of livestock and property, alongside deliberate destruction of a local market close to the town center. No casualties were reported in this second attack at the time of writing.
The Far North region of Cameroon remains a frequent target of Boko Haram and splinter factions, despite ongoing counterterrorism operations by cameroonian armed forces and the Multinational Joint Task Force operating in the Lake Chad basin.
