Au moins 22 militaires et supplétifs civils tués dans des attaques au Burkina Faso
Over the weekend, suspected jihadist assaults in northern Burkina Faso resulted in the deaths of at least 22 soldiers and civilian defense volunteers, according to reports emerging on Tuesday.
On Saturday morning, a base belonging to a Rapid Intervention Battalion (BIR) located in Di, close to Dédougou, came under a fierce assault by jihadist militants. This devastating incident led to the tragic loss of at least fourteen soldiers and seven members of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), who serve as crucial civilian auxiliaries to the armed forces.
Furthermore, another coordinated attack struck the town of Solhan, resulting in multiple fatalities, among them a high-ranking officer. Both of these grave incidents have been independently corroborated by additional security details.
