Côte d’ivoire student bankers day highlights digital finance and career mentoring

The second edition of the Student Bankers Day (JEB) and the inaugural Mentoring Day, coordinated by the Alumni and Banking Students Association of Félix Houphouët-Boigny University (AEB-UFHB) in collaboration with Afrique Femme, the Ministry of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, and the Youth Employment Agency, unfolded at the Cocody campus of Félix Houphouët-Boigny University.

Mentoring Day introduces TED Talks for professional development

This year’s Mentoring Day broke new ground by incorporating TED Talks into its program, focusing on soft skills, leadership, personal growth, and mentorship. The initiative aimed to connect students with seasoned leaders and industry experts, equipping them with the tools needed for a smooth transition into the workforce.

Two keynote sessions stood out during the event. The first, delivered by Assolé Dabiré, Human Resources Director of Zenith Bank Côte d’Ivoire, explored the behavioral competencies most valued by recruiters. The second, presented by Fanta Traoré, Managing Director of Empower Consulting, highlighted the critical role of networking in career development and how a strong professional network unlocks growth opportunities.

Panels address financial innovation and economic funding

Two expert-led panels enriched the discussions. The first panel, centered on digitalization and interoperability within the West African Monetary Union (UEMOA), gathered representatives from the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO), Wave, Djamo, and Visa. Participants delved into payment systems, financial innovation, and inclusion strategies.

The second panel focused on life insurance, pension funds, and economic financing, featuring a compelling talk by Jean Kacou Diagou, Founder and President of the NSIA Group. Through a powerful narrative, he recounted the milestones of his entrepreneurial journey, sharing invaluable lessons on perseverance, integrity, and long-term vision with the students.

Throughout the event, students engaged directly with speakers, received tailored career guidance, and expanded their professional networks through targeted mentoring and networking sessions.

The combined JEB and Mentoring Day event underscored the commitment of AEB-UFHB, Afrique Femme, and their partners to bridge the gap between academia and the financial sector. By fostering knowledge-sharing, mentorship, networking, and skill development, the initiative empowers young professionals to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving job market and strengthens ties between students and industry leaders shaping the future of finance.
