Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara expressed his satisfaction with the record financial mobilization achieved during the National Development Plan (PND) 2026-2030 Consultative Group meeting held in Abidjan on July 8 and 9, 2026. The event brought together over 2,000 investors from 49 countries, representing financial institutions, investment funds, banks, business associations, public and private enterprises, and key development partners at the highest level.
Unprecedented global confidence in Côte d’Ivoire’s economic roadmap
The President highlighted that the unexpected success reflects the international community’s strong faith in the country’s economic fundamentals, strategic vision, and development prospects. The two-day forum concluded with financial commitments totaling $80 billion (47,820 billion F CFA), far exceeding the original target of 11,138.2 billion F CFA—nearly quadrupling the anticipated funding.
Private sector to drive 70% of Côte d’Ivoire’s development transformation
The PND 2026-2030 outlines a sweeping vision: building a Greater Nation that is stable, ambitious, and united. With a total investment volume of 114,838.5 billion F CFA (approximately $209 billion) over five years, the plan places the private sector at the forefront of economic and social transformation, accounting for 70.2% of funding. Ivorian businesses will receive special emphasis in implementation.
Six strategic pillars for national progress
The development roadmap is structured around six key priorities:
- Peace, security, and stability
- Agriculture and agro-industrial growth
- Private sector development and industrialization
- Human capital enhancement
- Strategic infrastructure expansion
- Good governance and state modernization
Macroeconomic ambitions: joining the ranks of upper-middle-income economies
The plan sets ambitious macroeconomic targets, including elevating Côte d’Ivoire to upper-middle-income status by 2030. Key objectives include achieving a GDP per capita of $4,500 and reducing poverty to below 20%. President Ouattara emphasized that the state’s role will be to translate these financial commitments into tangible outcomes for all Ivorians—more schools, hospitals, roads, jobs, opportunities, and shared prosperity.
« Together, with confidence, determination, and unity, we will continue building a Côte d’Ivoire that is ever more prosperous and united, » the President declared in closing remarks.
