Como and inter milan battle for chelsea defender trevoh chalobah

como submits official offer for chalobah

Como have tabled a formal bid for Trevoh Chalobah, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano. The ambitious Serie A side, managed by former Chelsea and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fàbregas, are eager to strengthen their squad after unexpectedly qualifying for the Champions League. Chalobah, who has been at Chelsea since the age of eight, is seen as the leader to spearhead the club’s European campaign.

While the exact fee remains undisclosed, Chelsea are open to offers for the Cobham academy graduate. A regular starter last season with 47 appearances across all competitions and three Premier League goals, Chalobah could be sold to fund new defensive reinforcements. Under contract until 2028, the Blues have strong leverage in negotiations.

Freshly crowned Serie A champions Inter Milan are also tracking the centre-back, viewing him as an ideal addition to their backline. The Nerazzurri want proven European performers, and Chalobah’s Premier League experience and versatility make him a prime target for Cristian Chivu’s squad. If a bidding war erupts, Chelsea could profit handsomely from their academy product.

A move to Inter would represent an immediate prestige boost, as they defend their league title while playing at the highest European level. For Chalobah, the chance to compete in the Champions League is a major draw, especially with Chelsea missing out on European football next season after a disappointing 10th-place finish.

tuchel’s faith and england duty

Despite his uncertain club future, Chalobah remains highly regarded by England manager Thomas Tuchel. The former Chelsea boss called up the defender for the World Cup after Tino Livramento’s injury withdrawal. Tuchel chose Chalobah over Manchester United veteran Harry Maguire, proving the 26-year-old still has plenty to offer at the top level.

His playing chances are limited barring injuries, as he didn’t feature in England’s first two matches—a 4-2 win over Croatia and a 0-0 draw with Ghana—and has only one cap overall. Yet his inclusion shows the esteem Tuchel holds him in, having again left Maguire at home.

chelsea’s broader defensive overhaul

The decision to let Chalobah go is part of a wider defensive rebuild under new manager Xabi Alonso. Chelsea are already scouting replacements, with Crystal Palace’s Maxence Lacroix and Como’s Jacobo Ramon on their radar. The club also finalised a £51 million deal for Atalanta’s Marco Palestra to reshape a defence that struggled all last season.

On the flanks, the hunt for a new left-back intensified after Marc Cucurella’s high-profile move to Real Madrid. Leeds United’s Gabriel Gudmundsson is currently in the Blues’ sights as they seek better balance. With Chalobah likely to leave, the turnover at Stamford Bridge shows no sign of slowing this summer.
