Chad un committee concludes 2024 cooperation framework cycle

The Minister of State for Finance, Budget, Economy, Planning and International Cooperation, Tahir Hamid Nguilin, co-chaired Friday, May 22, in N’Djamena a pivotal session of the National Joint Steering Committee for the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2024-2026.

The high-level meeting brought together government officials, UN agency representatives, technical and financial partners, civil society leaders, and private sector stakeholders. Dr. François Batalingaya, Resident Coordinator of the UN system in Chad, was also in attendance.

This gathering served a dual purpose: comprehensively reviewing the ongoing 2024-2026 cooperation cycle and officially kickstarting preparations for the next framework period, 2027-2030.

During his address, Tahir Hamid Nguilin underscored the strength of Chad’s partnership with the UN system. He emphasized the strategic importance of the session, highlighting the government’s commitment to building a more resilient, inclusive, and prosperous Chad through the Tchad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan. Key priorities include human capital development, climate adaptation, good governance, youth employment, and women’s empowerment.

« This steering committee meeting reflects our shared determination to align UN interventions with Chad’s national priorities. By endorsing the 2026 work plans and laying the groundwork for 2027-2030, we reaffirm our dedication to inclusive growth where no one is left behind, » Nguilin stated.

Dr. François Batalingaya echoed this sentiment, noting that the evaluation of the 2024-2026 cycle reaffirms the effectiveness of joint efforts. « As we close this chapter, our focus is already on the future. The upcoming UNSDCF 2027-2030 will embody renewed ambition to meet the financing needs and aspirations of the Chadian people, » he said.

Discussions centered on lessons learned from the current cycle and strategic priorities for 2027-2030, including development financing, social inclusion, and resilience. The new cooperation framework is expected to align closely with the Tchad Connexion 2030 National Development Plan.
