The Chadian government is ramping up its campaign to eradicate human trafficking, with a sharp focus on protecting women and children. Authorities are reinforcing legal enforcement and activating specialized judicial and security mechanisms to address this grave humanitarian crisis.
Human trafficking remains one of the most flagrant violations of human dignity, often involving coercion into forced labor or sexual exploitation. Chad, a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime since 2009, has strengthened its legal framework with key legislation such as Ordinance Nº006/PR/2018 and Law Nº12/PR/2018. These measures provide a robust foundation for dismantling trafficking networks operating within and across its borders.
To ensure swift and decisive action, provincial delegates and judicial officials have been instructed to accelerate investigations, document cases meticulously, and ensure all evidence is promptly forwarded to competent courts. Suspected trafficking incidents must be reported without delay to the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Justice and the National Anti-Human Trafficking Commission for comprehensive follow-up and prosecution.
The nationwide directive emphasizes strict adherence to these protocols, aiming to establish a centralized national database. This system will enhance coordination among law enforcement, judicial bodies, and civil authorities, enabling more effective policy development and implementation in the ongoing battle against human trafficking in Chad.
