Colonel Michaël Randrianirina, a prominent Malagasy official, recently traveled to N’Djamena, Chad, with a clear agenda: to solidify bilateral relations and actively engage with the Malagasy diaspora residing in the country. A key part of his visit involved a direct meeting with approximately twenty Malagasy expatriates. Emphasizing their crucial role, the Malagasy delegation’s leader underscored, “The diaspora represents a vital asset for Madagascar. Its diverse expertise must be increasingly recognized and utilized.”
Beyond fostering connections with overseas citizens, the visit also sought to invigorate economic and professional exchanges between Madagascar and Chad. Discussions highlighted the importance of facilitating the movement of skilled professionals and sharing valuable experiences as fundamental strategies to enhance Madagascar’s presence and influence across the African continent.
A significant highlight of the itinerary was Colonel Randrianirina’s participation in Chad’s 66th independence anniversary celebrations, held yesterday in N’Djamena. He attended the momentous occasion at the invitation of Marshal Idriss Mahamat, President of Chad, alongside General Horta N’Tam, the President of Guinea-Bissau. The Malagasy representative characterized this high-level gathering as an exceptional opportunity to “bolster intra-African cooperation,” further noting that “the Chadian president has expressed his readiness to visit Madagascar for discussions aimed at identifying concrete avenues for collaboration between our two nations.”
