A shocking act of aggression unfolded around 5 PM in N’Djamena, near the Goudjé Barrière roundabout. Traffic police officers were actively directing vehicles to alleviate congestion when the incident occurred.

Initial reports indicate that the driver of a Toyota Corolla, equipped with tinted windows, attempted to disregard the traffic flow instructions and force his way through. A traffic brigade officer intervened, seeking to enforce the regulations and reason with the driver, which quickly escalated into a heated confrontation.

The individual, identified as an active police officer who had been removed from his previous post at the 3rd district police station, reportedly brandished a pistol. He first discharged a shot into the air before firing directly at the officers. Two agents sustained gunshot wounds, with one being struck in the ear. Fortunately, police sources confirm that their injuries are not life-threatening.

During the ensuing struggle, officers successfully subdued the assailant and confiscated his weapon. However, before he was fully neutralized, the attacker also managed to stab another police officer in the forehead, right in front of the Goudjé Barrière roundabout.

The injured officers were promptly transported to a medical facility for urgent care. Their condition remains under close observation, though initial medical assessments are reassuring, particularly for those who suffered gunshot wounds.

The aggressor was taken into custody, handcuffed, and transferred to the Police Secours division at the General Directorate of Police. Several officers present during the incident suggested that he appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the attack.

An official investigation is now underway to thoroughly examine the precise circumstances surrounding this violent confrontation, which caused considerable alarm among both commuters and law enforcement personnel at the scene.
