The Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Professional Training convened a landmark national workshop in N’Djamena to validate ground-level assessment findings as the foundation for a new national digital strategy in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET). Held on a Thursday in mid-2026, the session brought together education leaders, trainers, policymakers and sector stakeholders to review, enrich and endorse the diagnostic report that will guide future digital policies for Chad’s TVET system.
This initiative falls under the Pan-African initiative for digital transformation of TVET systems, backed by major continental and global bodies including UNESCO, the African Union, the African Development Bank, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa and the GIZ-SIFA program. Its goal is to create a sustainable modernization pathway for Chad’s technical and vocational education, ensuring graduates are equipped for emerging job markets. The preliminary study engaged over 200 participants across 57 Technical and Vocational Training Centers (CFTP), alongside support structures, through in-person field missions and digital data collection spanning all academic districts.
Dr Djininboh Gabriel, Director General of Human Resources, Statistics and Digitalization, delivered opening remarks on behalf of the Secretary of State for Higher Education. He emphasized that digital transformation has become a strategic necessity to align training systems with rapid technological change and evolving professional demands. He stressed that the government is positioning digital tools as the cornerstone of TVET modernization across Chad.
The validated report highlights both progress and persistent challenges: governance gaps, inadequate digital infrastructure, limited connectivity, unreliable power supply, insufficient trainer upskilling, and gaps in integrating digital competencies into curricula. Dr Gabriel urged participants to contribute constructively, ensuring the final strategy is grounded in Chad’s realities—realistic, inclusive and actionable.
With the report now endorsed, it will serve as the blueprint for drafting the National Digital Transformation Strategy for TVET and its operational action plan covering 2026 to 2030. The ambition is clear: to build a modern, high-performing TVET system that meets labor market needs and positions Chad at the forefront of digital education in the region.
