Cameroonian government addresses president paul biya’s extended absence

In Cameroon, the government has finally addressed the prolonged absence of President Paul Biya, who has been outside the country for 56 days. René Emmanuel Sadi, the Minister of Communication and the government’s official spokesperson, has exclusively announced President Biya’s imminent return to Cameroon.

Le président camerounais Paul Biya observe le pape Léon XIV (hors champ) prononcer un discours au palais présidentiel de Yaoundé, lors du troisième jour d'un voyage apostolique de 11 jours en Afrique, le 15 avril 2026.

Minister Sadi categorically refuted claims suggesting President Biya was unwell or undergoing hospitalization at a clinic in Geneva. He dismissed these reports as unfounded and firmly rejected the opposition’s persistent speculations regarding a potential power vacuum in the country, asserting that such a scenario does not exist.
