Social Democratic Front names Louis Marie Kakdeu as national electoral preparation commission director
The second vice-president of the Social Democratic Front (SDF) has been entrusted with overseeing the party’s electoral readiness ahead of next year’s legislative and municipal elections in Cameroon.
The Social Democratic Front (SDF), Cameroon’s leading opposition party, has appointed Louis Marie Kakdeu as director of its newly created National Electoral Preparation Commission. This strategic move comes ahead of the 2027 municipal and legislative elections and follows a decision made during the party’s June 13 executive committee meeting in Bamenda.
The commission’s primary mandate is to strengthen the party’s operational readiness, ensuring transparency and proactive engagement in the upcoming electoral process. With Joshua Osih, the SDF’s national president, at the helm, this initiative underscores the party’s commitment to rebuilding its grassroots structures and regaining political momentum after recent electoral setbacks.
Restructuring for electoral success
Louis Marie Kakdeu, a seasoned economist and academic specializing in budgetary, economic, and fiscal matters, brings extensive expertise to his new role. His appointment follows his successful tenure as campaign director for Osih during the October 2025 presidential election. Kakdeu’s responsibilities will include identifying and recruiting competitive candidates in key constituencies and revitalizing the party’s traditional strongholds.
The creation of this commission reflects the SDF’s strategic focus on ground-level mobilization and enhanced monitoring in polling stations to uphold electoral integrity. By prioritizing these areas, the party aims to present a robust and transparent alternative in Cameroon’s political landscape.
