Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy ahead of PSG clash in Ligue 1

Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy ahead of PSG clash in Ligue 1

Three months after the tragic passing of Éric Roy, Stade Brestois 29 will honor the former coach during their fourth-round Ligue 1 encounter against Paris Saint-Germain.

The club has confirmed that a special tribute will take place on September 13, 2026, when they host PSG at the Francis-Le Blé Stadium. « The Stade Brestois 29 wishes this tribute to reflect the lasting legacy Éric Roy left on the club and the deep affection held by his family, friends, staff, and the entire Brest community », the official statement read.

Why the delay?

The decision to postpone the tribute was not made lightly. Initially, the club considered honoring Roy during earlier home games. However, logistical challenges—including restricted access to the Quimper stand due to a pyrotechnics-related sanction against Toulouse FC—made those dates unsuitable. « We wanted to ensure we could gather our supporters in the best possible conditions », club officials explained.

An emotional homecoming

Éric Roy, who passed away on June 17, 2026, leaves behind a profound mark on Brest football. His coaching tenure was defined by tactical acumen and a warm rapport with players and fans alike. This tribute will offer the community a chance to collectively remember his contributions.
