Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno made a bold declaration following a recent assault: “We will continue this fight with renewed determination until the threat is completely eradicated.” His statement came in response to an attack carried out by a faction of the Boko Haram militant group on the Barka Tolorom military base, situated on the Chadian side of Lake Chad. The assault claimed the lives of 24 soldiers.
