To oversee the significant modernization initiatives within the national road network, Georges Alé, the Minister of Living Environment and Transport, recently conducted an inspection tour of three crucial construction sites. His field visit centered on upholding technical standards, safeguarding the environment, ensuring public health, and strictly adhering to project timelines.
The ministerial delegation’s initial stop was at the Djonou bridge, situated within the Abomey-Calavi commune. Here, the essential dredging operations have been successfully completed. This vital work has cleared the waterway, facilitating enhanced stormwater drainage and bolstering the structural integrity of the bridge.
Next, the Minister proceeded to the construction site for the 2×2 lane expansion of the Missessinto-Allada (RNIE2) stretch, a project undertaken by the consortium SCET Tunisie / BECI BTP. While acknowledging the commendable progress and momentum of the work, Georges Alé strongly emphasized the imperative of meticulously following the contractual schedule to swiftly provide road users with a contemporary and safe thoroughfare.
The inspection concluded at the Allada roundabout and the newly developed retention basins in the vicinity. With a keen focus on sanitation concerns, the Minister directed the technical teams to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Health. This partnership aims to proactively address and mitigate any potential health hazards arising from stagnant water.
Concluding his tour, Georges Alé reiterated the government’s overarching vision: « Our constructions are designed to serve multiple generations. This commitment necessitates prioritizing safety, public health, and unwavering quality in every single component we install. »
