A significant step towards regional reconciliation has been taken as key figures from Bénin and Niger, Romuald Wadagni and Abdourahamane Tiani, publicly committed to reopening the vital border between their nations. This pivotal agreement emerged following a high-level meeting held in Niamey on June 2, 2026. During the visit, Romuald Wadagni, Bénin’s representative, received a personal welcome from Abdourahamane Tiani upon his arrival at the airport, underscoring the importance of these diplomatic efforts.
