• Barcelona rejects approaches for Silva and Vlahovic

FC Barcelona has firmly declined offers for both Bernardo Silva and Dusan Vlahovic. The club made the decision not to pursue the Portuguese playmaker, whose contract is set to expire this summer. Since joining Manchester City in 2017, Silva has made 459 appearances, scoring 76 goals and securing every possible trophy. Tactically, the Catalan club already boasts a well-balanced midfield, leading them to prioritize reinforcements in other positions.

• Seeking the ideal Lewandowski successor

Robert Lewandowski’s impressive tenure at the club concluded with a remarkable record of 119 goals in 191 official matches. As Barcelona searches for a new central striker, attention turned to Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic. The Serbian international, who arrived in Italy in 2022, will also become a free agent this summer. However, Vlahovic is not considered a primary target for the Blaugrana, who view his potential arrival as a contingency plan should other preferred options fall through.

• Barcelona’s ongoing financial challenges

While the Polish veteran’s departure frees up a gross salary of €26 million, this saving alone is insufficient to fully stabilize Barcelona’s finances, as this cost was not factored into the 2023-2024 projections due to his contract ending this summer. To comply with La Liga’s stringent 1:1 rule, the Catalan club must first recover €32 million owed by New Era Visionary Group for VIP tickets. Additionally, they need to execute minor player sales, such as Ansu Fati, before June 30, aiming to generate approximately €10-11 million. Only by meeting these conditions can the club serenely pursue its ambitious summer objectives and avoid solely relying on free agents, ensuring current financial results become positive.

• What’s next for Barcelona in the transfer market?

Before re-engaging in major negotiations, FC Barcelona must finalize its current financial operations and proceed with several sales of less crucial players. The club maintains a positive relationship with La Liga, fostering optimism that they will be able to sign and register new players ahead of the upcoming season.
