Algeria and Niger boost energy ties with jet a1 fuel deliveries

Historic fuel partnership between Algeria and Niger

Algeria and Niger have reached a significant milestone in regional energy collaboration. Through a strengthened partnership between Algeria’s Sonatrach and Niger’s Sonidep, both nations are opening a new chapter in cross-border trade and strategic cooperation across the Sahel.

First Jet A1 shipments dispatched from Adrar refinery

A clear demonstration of this growing trade dynamic, Sonatrach has successfully initiated the first-ever deliveries of aviation fuel Jet A1 to the Nigerien market. These shipments, originating from the Adrar refinery (RA1D), mark the operational launch of a purchase and sale agreement finalized between the two state-owned energy companies.

This inaugural supply under the bilateral agreement signals the activation of long-term commitments and underscores Algeria’s strategic intent to provide consistent petroleum product deliveries to neighboring Sahelian countries.

Joint crude oil exportation to Benin

Beyond fuel logistics, the cooperation extends into international commercial ventures. A pivotal moment was achieved at the Sèmè oil terminal in Benin, where Sonatrach and Sonidep jointly oversaw the loading of Niger’s first shipment of crude oil branded “Meleck,” destined for global markets.
